This Pharmacy Museum garden wedding in the heart of the French Quarter is so lovely with some of our favorite New Orleans vendor friends for Lauren and Lane's big day! Our team was able to provide a flip from the ceremony to the reception in the courtyard at the Pharmacy Museum. It is a beautiful space to use to celebrate all couple's big day filled with greenery and that Nola charm with bricked walls with a fountain!
Lovegood Collection : Wesley Hairpin Tables paired with our Garden, Bistro Chairs, Champagne Cabinet as a 'In Memory' and Escort Card Display, and we added our Glass Goblets for the sit-down lunch
When did y’all get married?
We got married on March 28, 2019.
Tell us all about the proposal!
We love travelling and were on a trip in Indonesia. On the last day on our trip, we went scuba diving. After our dive we were sitting on the beach still in our swimsuits, watching our last sunset of the trip with a couple of beers when he got down on one knee and proposed. I had zero idea that he was planning to propose on that trip.
Did you have something borrowed, blue, old, and new? If so, do tell!
I borrowed my maternal grandmother’s handkerchief and secured it around my bouquet with a blue brooch that belonged to my husband’s maternal grandmother. My old is my wedding band, which was my maternal grandmother’s. We had our wedding date engraved in the inside of the band next to her wedding date. My new was my Truvelle wedding dress and Bella Belle wedding shoes.
How did y’all meet? Tell us your love story.
When I was 17, I attempted to sneak into a small town bar with some friends using a borrowed/fake ID. Lane was working the door of the bar I was trying to get into and he kicked me out despite us having several mutual friends. Because of mutual friends, we had several run-in’s here and there over the years. One evening, about two years after we initially met, we shared a ride to a bar to meet up with some friends. After that night, we were inseparable from then on out and the rest is history.
Tell us about your ceremony?
Our wedding ceremony was an intimate ceremony with forty-five of our closest family and friends.
Tell us about some of the songs you used throughout your wedding and why you chose them.
Our 1st dance wedding song was “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne. The song was the perfect choice for our New Orleans Jazz band to play during our French garden wedding. We also really love the lyrics. The remaining songs used in our wedding ceremony and reception were songs that reminded us of happy memories of our relationship and childhood or just songs that we both love.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day?
Our most memorable moments were walking through the French Quarter during our Second Line and enjoying a delicious seated dinner with our guests.
Describe your wedding flowers.
For our flowers, I wanted timeless neutrals that tied into the romantic French garden vibe I was hoping to achieve.
Favorite detail of the wedding was:
Having a smaller wedding allowed us the ability to customize every wedding detail to reflect us as a couple and the things we love. We viewed our wedding as an event to give thanks to our family and friends that have always supported and loved us, so seeing our guests enjoy our wedding as much as we did was everything we hoped for and more.
What advice do you have for folks currently planning a wedding?
I would say, that despite all the stress, everything will come together and no matter what it will be the absolute best day. When planning, choose details that you love and try not to worry too much about how everything will look together, it will be beautiful. What’s important for one bride, may not be of equal importance to you and that is okay. When you’re surrounded by things you love, you’ll absolutely be filled with joy. Lastly, hire a wedding planner (at the very least for the week/day of the wedding)!
What’s next for you as a couple? What memories are you looking forward to making together?
Lane and I are both back in school pursing advanced degrees. We’re looking forward to our personal and professional growth both individually and as a couple, traveling, and trying to start a family in the next couple of years.
