When did y’all get married?
October 19, 2019
Describe your wedding flowers.
Simple and natural looking. We used lots of greenery with white flowers, like garden roses and baby’s breath, and a touch of blush in my bouquet. I didn’t want them to appear over worked.
Tell us about your ceremony?
We held our ceremony and reception in the amazing former church at Hotel Peter and Paul which has been lovingly restored. We wanted the décor to compliment the stunning room so we kept things simple with candles and minimal flowers. Our ceremony was centered on our love for each other, the blending of our two cultures and the diverse group of friends and family that came along to support and celebrate our marriage.
Did you have something borrowed, blue, old, and new?
If so, do tell! I made handkerchiefs with our wedding date hand stitched for my something blue. My something new was my dress and something old was a pair of pearl and diamond earrings that I received as a gift from my parents when I graduated from high school.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day?
Surprising our guests with a second line at the end of the cocktail hour. We told everyone it was not possible due the residential location of the venue so it was a really fun surprise to see everyone’s reaction when the brass band turned the corner! It was during golden hour after the ceremony so all of our nerves were gone and we could just relax and have a great time with our guests.
What advice do you have for folks currently planning a wedding?
Plan the day that feels right for you as a couple and will make you the happiest. Don’t feel obligated to include certain elements just because they’re typically done at weddings. Your wedding should represent you and your partner and only you know what that looks like!
Favorite detail of the wedding was:
The location. Julien is French and I am American (born in New Orleans!), but we live in London. Being in New Orleans was the perfect place to spend the weekend celebrating our wedding. Lots of guests came from out of the country so it was wonderful for them to explore the city for the first time.
Tell us about some of the songs you used throughout your wedding and why you chose them.
My husband took the lead on selecting most of the music for our wedding, some of the artists that helped set the tone at the different stages of the day were Angus & Julia Stone, Anderson Paak, Frank Ocean and The xx.
What’s next for you as a couple? What memories are you looking forward to making together? We just welcomed a baby boy into our family and are so excited to watch him grow!
